Overview of Three New PECL Releases

Greg Beaver in a post over his blog, tells you about three new PECL releases. However, he says to note that all these three packages are in alpha state so they cannot be used in production yet.

First, Greg talks about the PEAR Web site. He says currently the web site supports patch tracking in its bug tracker as well as the ability to auto-generate a package.xml based on the roadmap, complete with release notes based on closed bugs.

Next release is the PHP_ParserGenerator version 0.1.5, which fixes a bug and adds more display output.

Finally, he talks about the last release. He has released the first full-featured parser for PHP, PHP_Parser, and its companion PHP_Parser_DocblockParser. These two packages are the next incarnation of the once-defunct PHP_Parser package, he initiates. He says, based on a PHP_ParserGenerator based grammar, the packages can parse any valid PHP 4, 5 or 6 but PHP 5.1.0+ is required for it to run. He advises phpDocumentor for immediate usage. The Docblock parser uses the docblock PECL extension to do its work, he informs. He adds full regression tests are available for both packages and documentation will be coming soon.
