LynuxWorks, a provider of embedded software, has rolled out its Linux-based operating system, BlueCat Linux Micro Edition (BlueCat-ME). BlueCat-ME, a result of the company's previously announced affiliation with chipmaker Xilinx, offers support of the Linux 2.6 kernel. BlueCat-ME, available today, also makes LynuxWorks the first embedded RTOS provider to enable developers to work with Linux on both PowerPC and MicroBlaze architectures and the popular LynxOS for PowerPC, the company is said to have quoted.
The latest addition to LynuxWorks' BlueCat Linux line, BlueCat-ME also offers the benefits of the latest Linux distribution to developers using non-Memory Management Unit (non-MMU) architectures for their embedded systems for the first time. Through these capabilities, BlueCat-ME expands open source developers' flexibility and allows them to create applications, the company added.
BlueCat Linux Micro Edition is available now from LynuxWorks. More information is available on the LynuxWorks web site on LynuxWorks' family of products and development and programming tools.
