TorrentSpy Shuts Down to US Users |

TorrentSpy, a bit torrent search engine has blocked US based IP addresses from using its search engine.
Company lawyer Ira Rothken said the move is in direct response to a US federal court order earlier this year requiring the search engine to begin tracking users' IP addresses and activity.
Last year, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) sued TorrentSpy for alleged copyright infringement by aiding users in trading pirated material through file-sharing networks. TorrentSpy has a privacy policy that assures its users it will not collect any personal information about them without their consent. However the federal US judge asked TorrentSpy to collect the users data and hand it over to MPAA, which was not acceptable to torrentSpy. |
