The Software Freedom Law Centre has filed a lawsuit to impose an open-source licence. This is first such case in the US.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Erik Anderson and Rob Landley, who work for BusyBox— against Monsoon Multimedia under the GNU General Public Licence Version 2.
SFLC and BusyBox said they had informed Monsoon of its responsibilities, however Monsoon has failed to publish the code, said Dan Ravicher, legal director at SFLC.
Ravichar also said the suit became important because from a legal perspective, copyright owners can start to lose rights if they don't act to protect them. |
