Avnet Appoints HP Premier Enterprise Business Partner in Singapore

Avnet Technology Solutions, an operating group of global technology distributor Avnet, Inc. has signed an agreement with Hewlett Packard (HP) to sell its enterprise products in Singapore.

As part of this agreement, Avnet Partner Solutions, a division of Avnet Technology Solutions, has been appointed HP’s Premier Enterprise Business Partner (PEBP). Avnet Partner Solutions will offer independent software vendors (ISVs), system integrators (SIs), and value-added resellers (VARs) in this region an expanded product portfolio for strengthened partner engagement.

The agreement between Avnet and HP was signed in Singapore by Mr. Rick Hamada, chief operating officer (COO) of Avnet Inc., and Mr. William Chu, vice president/general manager of Avnet Technology Solutions for ASEAN, on behalf of Avnet Partner Solutions, and Ms. Serena Yong, general manager of Personal Systems Group for HP Singapore.

HP and Avnet have worked together for nearly 30 years to create channel sale opportunities across markets globally and HP hopes that through this latest alliance, it will be able to tap into Avnet’s extensive value-added distribution network in this region.

With its worldwide reach, Avnet believes the expanded alliance with HP will position it as a leader in the market for delivering solutions that accelerate growth for partners. The product lines that will form a key part of this alliance are HP’s Business Critical Servers (BCS) and storage products.

Commenting on the agreement, Ms. Yong said, “For HP Singapore, this is a great opportunity to extend connections with new ISV partners and customers we have not reached in the past. Partnering is very much a part of HP’s DNA, and we are fully committed to delivering the value products, programs and services that will make our partners successful.”

According to research firm IDC, close to 75 percent of Singapore IT managers will either maintain or increase IT spending. Companies in Asia Pacific excluding Japan, are expected to spend almost USD 138 billion on IT, with USD 85.3 billion earmarked for hardware investments.

“IT spending in Asia has been steadily increasing over the years. At Avnet, we are continuously evolving and extending our portfolio of offerings for our partners so they can service this market in a timely and effective manner. We are seeing a trend where our partners in Singapore and Malaysia are growing their own businesses by going overseas, and the team at Avnet aims to keep pace with this regional expansion in order to support our partners as they expand,” said Mr. K. P. Tang, president of Avnet Technology Solutions, Asia Pacific.
