Motorola Ventures into Indian GPS Mobile Phone Market

Motorola recently unveiled its first GPS-enabled mobile phone, MOTOMING A 1600, in the Indian market. This GPS enabled mobile phone sports navigation maps and landmarks of around 30 cities.

MOTOMING A 1600 is equipped with a 3.2 mega pixel camera and comes with 1 GB MicroSD card, which can be further expanded to memory capacity of up to 4 GB. Powered by MapmyIndia, India maps come preloaded on the memory card of the phone.

It comes with a business card reader, allowing it to read and upload the information of new business contacts. Its Bluetooth features allow its users to share files with other Bluetooth enabled cell phones. It also allows voice-guided navigation across major national and state highways.

"MOTOMING A 1600 is the first GPS-enabled mobile phone. The navigation service is free with no activation charges, independent of mobile networks and can be used even without inserting the SIM card," said Motorola Mobile Devices India and South West Asia, Lloyd Mathias.

The mobile phone carries a price tag of Rs 15,847 in India.
